Electrical home appliances have different energy classes. So, which class are the appliances in your home?
According to the current energy labelling system, products are classified from A to G.
While class A represents the highest energy efficiency, class G refers to products with the lowest efficiency that consume more energy.
- Class A: Highest energy efficiency. Products that do the same job with the least energy.
- Class B: Very high efficiency, performance quite close to A.
- Class C: Good level of energy efficiency.
- Class D: Medium-level efficiency. This range is common in many products today.
- Class E: Below-average efficiency, more energy consumption.
- Class F: Low efficiency, high energy consumption.
- Class G: Lowest efficiency. Products that consume the most energy.
In an average home, about 20% of total energy consumption comes from electrical appliances. About 30% of the electricity consumption within the home is used by refrigerators. Therefore, the higher the energy class of the refrigerator, the less energy it consumes. Reduced electricity consumption reflects positively on bills while also reducing environmental impact.
As a more efficient refrigerator is used, electricity consumption decreases. It is estimated that between 2 and 5 billion kWh could be saved with the widespread use of efficient refrigerators across Turkey. In other electrical home appliances, it is possible to achieve energy savings of up to 25%.
